Case study

52 Tuesdays (2013)

Synopsis

This fiction feature follows 16-year-old Billie, whose reluctant path to independence is accelerated when her mother reveals plans to gender transition and their time together becomes limited to Tuesday afternoons.

Unquiet connection
Sophie Hyde: Directed, Produced and Impact produced.

The Closer Productions team, alongside “experience designers” Sandpit created two companion works to the film. A portable photobooth that travelled with the film, starting in Sundance’s New Frontiers program, where audiences could create images giving their own advice to their 16-year-old selves and a year-long participatory app where people could experience their own 52 Tuesdays via a series of questions and provocations that helped them build a portrait of their own year.
